  We needed to find food around our neighbourhood as it was getting late. So we decided to pop by here. Got to Sozo at 8:30 and it was quiet. We started to flip thru the menu and decided to go with a soyu ramen, smoked duck breast ramen and appetizer of tofu plus the takoyaki. Came out not long after. Their noodle is pretty decent on an autumn day. Much like a bowl of comfort food. The chashu was thick cut and meaty, but not overly fatty. The star is the smoked duck breast, as it is lightly smoked. The broth for both was surprisingly light. The 2 appetizers were alright too. This place is a definite surprise and we can see ourselves coming back.

  Sozo... honestly should be renamed to SoSo...  (I didn't come up with this cheeky line... my lovely mother did... so I got to give her credit for this one). At best their food are soso.  Here's a summary of the experience.
  
  The rice in the California roll was over dressed with vinegar and the rice was so poorly wrapped, there's actually gaps between the seaweed and the content in the middle.
  
  Two bowls of ramen, both epic failure. The pork bone soup ramen had a smooth soup but lacked the richness that a good soup base should have. The miso soup is a tale of two extremes, overly sweet and overly salty. The chashu in both severely lacked marination and were super bland.  The noodle is also the typical frozen aisle yellowy slightly curly type.
  
  The tempura was super uninspiring; not flaky at all. It didn't even come with tempura sauce.
  
  Service was good as the servers were pleasant with smiles on their face and were diligent with refilling water.
  
  Sozo is located in the new strip of food complex in the midst of office buildings along consumers road.  The office crowd maybe enough for them to survive but I doubt they will survive the harsh critiques of responsible and competent Yelp reviewers.

  I ordered 2 bowls of ramen noodles from this establishment for 24$ and it tasted significantly worse than the instant noodles I make in my Keurig machine.
  I had a bowl of spare rib ramen and the ribs tasted like knee caps
  4/6 pieces completely inedible
  the ramen it self had a taste of dish soap
  I appreciate the sanitation, but I brush my teeth every day I dont need your help.
  
  My sister had herself a bowl of kimchi ramen and it tasted like water no spice at all maybe 3 pieces of kimchi in the whole bowl
  
  I dont know if they always cheap out with people that get delivery or if was because we were white or what but this ramen was an insult to not only Japan but the entire continent of Asia this was not authentic Japanese cuisine it was about as authentic as a purse off of AliExpress

  The ramen here is not very good at all. The place smells a bit like mouldy rags. The menu is huge, which is already an indication they dont specialize in anything and nothing is probably good. The three of us each ordered a different ramen, none of which were good, and the starter japanese poutine that was soaked in curry was...weird. The service here is good, which is why i am sad that i am giving this place two stars. The food is just not good.

  This place has a pretty good selection of eats you might find at other ramen, izakaya, or sushi joints. I had a taste of a handful of different items. The Chicken Teriyaki Don and Eel Donburri were both fresh, tender, and came at a decent serving size. The signature roll and pressed sushi we ordered were both well constructed and torched nicely. The Pork Ramen though of all items was a bit disappointing. Even in slices, the pork was quite tough, and the soup was a bit on the bland side - it was priced higher than many other places too, so i was expecting better quality.
  
  SERVICE:
  
  The servers did their job, with one being pretty forward about warning us about longer wait times due to their being quite busy - this was appreciated. Apparently though there was a bit of a strange interaction that happened with one member of my party prior to my arrival. Seems the manager of Sozo would not allow our group of 6 to sit in one of the inside rooms, citing a supposed $500 minimum required to sit there. This was a bit off-putting since over the course of the next 2 hours, one room remained empty, while another room seated two high school kids who definitely did not order $500 worth of food...strange.
  
  ATMOSPHERE:
  
  Spacious and clean enough. As mentioned, they have a few semi-private dining spaces. You can see the sushi chef's at work from most spots near the back.
  
  VERDICT:
  
  I may give this place another look.
